INTRODUCTION

This
report has been written to introduce you to the concepts of astrology and how
to get started with your natal chart. Astrology is a complex and meaningful
science which takes years to study and apply successfully; however, we would
like to whet your appetite with this report, and encourage you to deepen your
understanding through other means.
Astrology
is a study of the connection between planets and life on Earth. It is based on
a concept that energy patterns form between other planets and Earth; and that
these energies affect our lives as individuals and communities.
An
astrological chart, also known as a horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart,
records the relationship between the planets and the signs of the Zodiac.
Charts can be calculated for the birth of a person, a community, an event or
anything that seems momentous. The horoscope is as individual and unique as a
fingerprint.
When using
these interpretations, please bear in mind that, inevitably, every chart will
contain some contradictory influences, and as a result certain interpretations
of different items in the same chart may seem difficult to reconcile. However,
this may still be an accurate reflection of your chart, as it is likely that
you do experience conflicting desires, events and circumstances in your life.
Usually it is the responsibility of an astrologer to synthesise these apparent
contradictions in order to present a cohesive and meaningful interpretation of
the dilemmas of the chart.
Please also
be aware of the fact that each person has positive and negative influences in
the chart, and therefore in their lives. The challenge is to accept and
overcome the negative influences, so that we can successfully focus on the
positive traits. This report outlines both influences, and therefore parts may
be difficult to accept. Any advice given is meant to be an aid to a person
taking responsibility for their own lives. The ultimate decision rests with
each individual. The author and publisher accept no liability for any adverse
effects of this report.
LIFE GOALS

If you
would hit the mark, you must aim a little above it;
Every
arrow that flies feels the attraction of earth.
Longfellow,
Elegiac Verse 1880.
Just as
the Sun is the centre of the Earth's Solar System, so does the Sun play a vital
role in your life on earth. Your life goals are linked to your Sun - its zodiac
sign and its position in your chart. Contrary to popular belief, the Sun isn't
the only planet to be considered in a person's chart, but it is an important
component. The Sun gives you an indication of how you can shine in your life.
You will feel truly alive when you're living the traits indicated by your Sun.
Therefore it's likely that you will spend much of your life on a journey to
self discovery, aiming to incorporate these traits into your life.
Understanding the energy of your Sun is a good starting point to understanding
yourself and your purpose in life.
Your Sun
is in the tenth house of your birth chart meaning that you're the sort of
person who likes to make your mark on the world, in particular through your
profession. Depending on other influences in your chart you're likely to be
born to parents of good standing in the community. From this favourable start
in life, you're likely to steadily improve on your status. Success usually
comes easily in whatever business or profession that you choose. People in high
places are likely to look on you with favour, helping you further your
ambitions. You're also likely to rise to a prominent position in society,
perhaps even in government office. You've high moral standards, which you apply
to yourself and to other people. Fortunately your vitality and health are
usually good and therefore you're well able to achieve your goals. You're
likely to carefully consider your proposed primary partner, before entering
into a commitment which affects your standing in the community. As a result,
depending on other influences in your chart, you're likely to benefit through
your primary partnership. Ancient astrologers consider that the Sun is
well-placed in the angular tenth house of a chart, and therefore you're likely
to be successful in achieving your goals.
Your Sun is
in the zodiac sign of Sagittarius indicating that you're a sunny and optimistic
individual, with a love of adventure. In fact adventure plays a key role in
your life, whether it be literally travelling around the globe, or
metaphorically speaking exploring the world of ideas and philosophy. You're
particularly enthusiastic about anything that expands your world and helps you
forget about daily chores. Religion, law, sport, philosophy, academia, and
ethics are just some of the many areas which provide a gourmet of ideas for
exploration. For these reasons you're also likely to be attracted to people
from foreign lands, who help to give you a fresh and different perspective on
life. You also enjoy setting goals, as looking forward to a new vision provides
excitement. Your excitement is contagious, and this can be uplifting and a
lesson to those around you. But you need to beware of grandiosity, and remember
to enjoy the present moment. In your eagerness to embrace life and all of its
possibilities you need also to be aware that others may lack your enthusiasm.
While you certainly have the ability to inspire and teach others, you need also
to learn tact and diplomacy in your approach. You may be surprised to learn
that you possess a tendency to be blunt which needs to be reined in from time
to time.
The planet
Jupiter also tells you about your goals in life, in particular the areas in
which you are likely to succeed. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, abundance
and wisdom. Ancient astrologers believed that the planet Jupiter had a greatly
beneficial effect on a person's life.
Jupiter is
also in the first house of your chart signifying that you've a zest for life
which makes other people sit up and take notice. This is fortunate because you
do like to be the centre of attention, whether in the company of a small or
large gathering. You also know how to best utilise your popularity. Whether it
be quietly pursuing your own interests behind the scenes, or lecturing in front
of a crowd of people, other people seem only too happy to help you achieve your
goals. You're a natural-born teacher. This could be tutoring on a one-to-one
basis, or teaching a room full of adults or children. Your optimism and
enthusiasm are contagious, and you're likely to attract prominent positions in
the field of education, and in business circles. You've a philosophical
approach to most things in life, preferring to leave matters in the laps of the
Gods rather than worry too much. This could be because you have a tendency to
fall on your feet, no matter how difficult a situation. Ancient astrologers
believe that the planet Jupiter has a beneficial effect in a person's birth
chart. They also believe that it's most powerfully favourable in the angular
first house. This means that you're likely to be successful in achieving your
goals.
You've the
planet Jupiter in the zodiac sign of Aries in your birth chart indicating that
you are a freedom-loving individual eager to seek your own path in life,
revelling in situations that offer a challenge. Success is likely to come
through your own merits, rather than through relying on other people. This
doesn't concern you because you're a natural born self-starter and leader who
is reluctant to follow the lead of other people. You don't need external influences
to motivate you, but excel in setting your own goals and achieving them. You're
a spontaneous person, who likes to be given the freedom to make your own way
and learn by your own mistakes. Autonomy is a key word for you. In fact you can
sometimes go overboard in your efforts to maintain your independence. You're
progressive, capable of holding positions of authority and often noted for your
pioneering efforts. You also have the potential to be a philosophical or
religious leader. In fact religion and other high-minded subjects may
particularly appeal to your progressive nature.
The
planets Jupiter and Uranus are making a difficult aspect in your chart
indicating that your unusual approach to achieving your goals can sometimes
land you in hot water! You're keen to change things in this world because you
can see where traditional methods have failed. You see no reason to continue
with out-moded traditions, preferring unconventional and new ideas. The trouble
is that at times you lack tact and diplomacy. You're impatient to see results,
not realising that your very impatience is jeopardising your success.
Repeatedly throughout your life, experience is likely to teach you that success
isn't an overnight accomplishment. Results don't always come quickly. Perhaps
you could remind yourself of the motto "all good things come to those who
wait". It's worth persevering with your goals and taking a positive
approach to overcoming the obstacles in your life. You can achieve a great deal
in the world through your innovative and unusual methods. You may also benefit
by joining with like-minded individuals, perhaps in the fields of metaphysics,
unorthodox religion or science.
HOME

Perverse
and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in
love he sought me,
And on his
shoulder gently laid,
And home,
rejoicing, brought me.
Hymn, The
King of love my Shepherd is 1868.
Astrologers
from different schools of thought allocate varying meanings to the Moon in a
birth chart. Ancient astrologers say that the Moon changes its nature according
to its phases, and merely passes on impressions from other planets rather than
directly influencing a person's life. However, modern astrologers tell us that
the Moon depicts a person's roots, our home and family. They say the Moon also
shows our habitual nature or subconscious patterns of behaviour which stand in
the way of achieving our life goals. While the Moon can show us our strengths,
it can also depict our weaknesses which need to be overcome in order to be
successful in life.
The Moon
is placed in the eleventh house of your birth chart suggesting that friends and
acquaintances are a major feature of your life, influencing you both positively
and negatively. On the one hand your friends can be unreliable and changeable
failing to live up to your ideals of true friendship. It may be that your
friends change within themselves and move on emotionally, or simply that they move
out of town and lose contact. Either way you suffer because you feel a sense of
loss when separated from your friends. You seek a sense of security from your
relationships with other people, only feeling safe when surrounded by warm and
loving friends. This is particularly true of your women friends and groups of
women, which are likely to feature prominently. Sudden changes in friendships
can be disappointing. On a more positive note you can benefit from your large
circle of acquaintances who help you emotionally and financially to achieve
your own hopes and wishes. You enjoy popularity in groups, particularly when
you feel that you feel a sense of belonging. You may find yourself drawn
towards humanitarian groups.
With the
Moon in the sign of Capricorn you feel most secure when life is structured and
predictable, choosing the straight and narrow path which involves the least
risks. You find comfort in hard work, often spending more and more time at work
when life becomes emotionally difficult. You need to remind yourself not to
take life so seriously, to go out and play, and relax. The problem is that,
astrologically, the Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, meaning that your need
for emotional security can be an obstacle to forming warm and loving human relationships.
While your ability to remain emotionally distant can have the advantages of
allowing you to stay calm and detached in a crisis, it can also prevent you
from taking the risks needed to get close to others. This is particularly so
when you're young. As you grow older and more mature you develop, step-by-step,
the ability to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships with your loved
ones.
The Moon
and the planet Uranus are connected in your chart suggesting that your home
life is unusual and changeable. It could be that you've difficulty settling
down in one place, or that you live in extraordinary surroundings. In some way
your family life is unusual. This isn't necessarily a negative experience,
although it could be upsetting. Perhaps you, or a member of your family, have
an unusual hobby which has taken over the household, or necessity requires that
your family often changes residence. The erratic nature of your household
probably stems from your childhood experiences. Perhaps your family was
different from traditional families, or circumstances led to emotional upsets
in the family home. It's possible that you suffered from a sense of insecurity
as a child as a result of changing family life. Your mother, or an important
mother figure, may have been an unusual or unstable influence in your early
childhood. A continuing sense of a lack of security in your home and family may
be a source of emotional distress, as you struggle to come to terms with
conflicting emotions. However, you're a resourceful, inventive and independent
person, and will eventually learn to blend your individual need for excitement
and stimulation in the home environment with a need for comfort and security.
EDUCATION
AND COMMUNICATION

There is
no such whetstone, to sharpen a good wit
and
encourage a will to learning, as is praise.
Roger
Ascham, The Schoolmaster 1570.
Our
academic schooling and learning through life experience are linked to the planet
Mercury. This planet stands for the
intellect, common sense, cold reason, commerce and business. It tells us about
our communication and learning habits and our modes of thinking.
The planet
Mercury in the eleventh house of your chart signifies that your friends play an
important role in your education. You've many acquaintances but can count your
good friends on the fingers of one hand, as the saying goes. You enjoy being
surrounded by stimulating people, particularly in a group of people with similar
interests. Clubs and interest groups are a source of intellectual stimulation,
but that's all. Unless you've other influences in your birth chart, you're
unlikely to make lasting friends with more than a few chosen friends. Again, depending on the other aspects of your birth
chart, your friends can either be of great benefit in your life or they can be
somewhat unreliable. You may find yourself drawn to young people, because they
provide you with a fresh outlook on life and give you plenty to think about.
You're more likely to share your thoughts with other people rather than spend
time pursuing your interests on your own. You would rather join a literary
group and discuss the latest best sellers rather than read on your own. You
also prefer to share a cup of tea and a chat with someone else rather than
enjoy the peace of a drink in solitude. You like the stimulation of other
people's company and you're quite able to chat superficially rather than
delving into deep and meaningful conversations.
The planet
Mercury in the zodiac sign of Capricorn indicates that you're a wise and
careful thinker, preferring to take your time to consider all possibilities
before making decision. You are also likely to choose your words carefully
before talking. You place importance on credibility and authority. Therefore
you'll seek knowledge which carries some authority. You've an astute mind and
enjoy studying a variety of subjects, approaching your topics in a serious
fashion. For this reason you enjoy success in the academic world. It's also
likely that others will appreciate your wisdom and counsel in many matters.
While it's true that you have the ability to become an acknowledged expert in
your field, it's also true that you can become a little rigid in your thinking.
You approach new ideas with caution, preferring the tried and tested ways that
have already been trod. However, with your practical nature you will soon see
the advantages of anything new on offer.
The
planets Mercury and Mars are making contact in your chart indicating that
you've a razor-sharp mind and tongue, which you're not afraid of using. You're
quick to grasp new ideas, and enjoy studying any subject that challenges your
mind. You may have a keen interest in sports and military pursuits. You've good
intellectual powers, and are witty, enthusiastic and ingenious. You're a
forthright and powerful speaker, perhaps not realising the extent of the effect
that your words have on other people. Others may react adversely to your feisty
way of communicating, particularly if you fail to curb your tendency to speak
first and think later. In some way your communications with other people tend
to involve conflict, a battle of words requiring strategic manoeuvres. On a
positive note it's also possible that others appreciate your ability to speak
your mind, particularly if you're fighting for a cause. You may become an
advocate for individuals or groups of people, who are unable to stand up for
themselves or who need a strong spokesperson. You're the right choice because you're perceptive,
enjoy a thought-provoking discussion or argument, and are agile in most
negotiations.
The
planets Mercury and Neptune are making favourable contact in your chart
suggesting that you've a fertile imagination which, if encouraged, can lead to
success in education, communication and any creative projects. You're receptive
to new ideas and have a resourceful mind. You may also be inspired by the
beauty of nature and the expanse of the ocean. Although at times you can seem a
little vague, it's more likely that you're lost in a world of creative thought.
If left to your reflections, then you're likely to express your thoughts in an
artistic or creative manner. This could be through art, poetry, literature,
story-telling, or music. It's possible that you possess genius in one of these
fields. You're also likely to excel in medical or spiritual circles, where your
heightened sensitivity to other people can be truly appreciated. You're more
likely to follow an unconventional, rather than orthodox, path if you become
involved in medicine. This is because you're attracted in psychic and spiritual
phenomenon. In fact you may possess psychic gifts in the form of clairvoyance,
psychometry, crystal gazing, trance and inspirational speaking and writing, and
prophetic dreams.
The
planets Mercury and Pluto are combined in your birth chart suggesting that your
education and communications are coloured with highs and lows. On the positive
side you've a probing mind and the ability to assess situations rapidly, which
can lead to success in your studies. You're likely to excel in any education
process which requires research and intense work. It's also likely that these
gifts will help you excel in any professional or personal situation which
involves counselling or crisis work. Your insightful mind proves invaluable in
such situations. You enjoy investigating mysteries and probing for hidden
truths. Secretive by nature, you find it easy to appreciate other peoples need
for privacy. Your gift for being able to keep secrets means that other people
often confide in you. It's likely that you've learnt to rely on your own
judgement from an early age. Perhaps a threatening environment, at home, in
your neighbourhood, or at school, meant that your instincts were a vital means
of survival. It could also have been a crisis, ranging from a traumatic change
of school or a death, that led to your ability to see situations clearly and
honestly. These gifts can be used to benefit your adult life, and other people.
However, problems are likely to arise because of your inability to see the
lighter side of life, and to accept that occasionally you might be wrong! You
are a deep thinker with wonderful powers of concentration, but you can become
obsessive, seeing only innuendos and subtleties in communications, rather than
the bigger and often brighter picture. This obsessive side of your nature means
that you also tend to believe that others are opposed to your thoughts and
ideas, when perhaps they're not. You need to battle to overcome your tendency
to create conflict and then seek revenge in such situations by finding a
positive outlet for your energy. For instance you may benefit from writing down
your feelings of anger and resentment, making sure that they don't reach the
party involved. If you believe that you're losing sight of the plot, then seek
advice from a trusted friend or colleague. You are at your most powerful when
using your insights for positive purposes. In particular your honesty and
insights can be useful in a counselling situation, but be careful of taking
these talents out of the consulting room unless invited to do so. Friends and
loved ones may not always appreciate your ability to get straight to the point,
particularly if they're feeling vulnerable or emotionally distraught. You need
to learn tact and diplomacy and sensitivity to other people's pain. Your gifts,
combined with compassion, make you a powerful advocate in any field.
RELATIONSHIPS

Let me not
to the marriage of true minds
Admit
impediments. Love isn't love
Which
alters when it alteration finds.
Shakespeare
Sonnet 116.
The planet
Venus tells about love and relationships. It reveals the type of relationship
we value, and what we are seeking from our most intimate relationship, as well
as how we like to show our love. It answers questions such as, are we attracted
to strong, sensual and intense relationships? Or do we prefer some freedom and
independence? This planet also depicts how we like to relate to our environment
and other people, not just our primary partner, and how much importance we
place on money and resources.
When the
planet Venus is placed in the eleventh house of your birth chart friendships
are an important component of your life - a great source of satisfaction and
pleasure. A popular person, you enjoy a wide variety of friends from all walks
of life, who seem to take up a considerable amount of your time. Your
friendships with women may be more prominent than those with men. At times you
feel that you owe your success to your friends, and this is probably true. Your
friendships are beneficial, contributing to your happiness and helping you
achieve your hopes and wishes. This may even involve financial gifts or
favours. It's also possible that groups and clubs feature in your life. You
enjoy belonging to a group of like-minded people, feeling supported by the
relationships that are formed. This could involve you taking a prominent role
in a group, or simply working quietly in the background. Either way you're
particularly keen on becoming a member of a group with goals that benefit
humanity.
With Venus
in the sign of Capricorn you're shy in relationships, slow to form friendships
with other people but, once you've committed to another person, then you're
steadfast in your efforts to maintain the relationship. This is particularly
true of your primary relationship. Not one to be distracted by romantic
illusions, you may appear to be reticent, almost cold, in the first throes of
love. This is partly because you're timid, but it's also because you like to
weigh up the pros and the cons to any new relationship. You're a great believer
in the adage "actions speak louder than words" and you like to
observe other people's actions. You form
relationships slowly, but they are enduring. Your head isn't ruled by your
heart, although you like to think that you've a good balance. This is fortunate
because you're ambitious in relationships, seeking a partner who is of good
character and good standing in the community. For these reasons you may have
more difficulty in your relationships earlier in life, seemingly missing out on
the flurry of social contacts being experienced by your more flighty friends.
It's later in life that your relationships flourish and you're placed in
positions of trust and responsibility through your liaisons with other people,
particularly people in authority. It's also later in life that you stand to
profit through your relationships, either financially or through promotions in
your social standing.
You enjoy
comfortable relationships with other people because of the favourable combination
of the Moon and Venus in your birth chart. A charming and prudent person, you
enjoy the company of other people, and they respond favourably. You're likely
to enjoy success in your primary relationship, choosing someone who feels
comfortable and companionable. You're also likely to benefit from your
relationships with women.
The
planets Venus and Uranus are combining unfavourably in your chart indicating
that you're restless and often lack commitment in your personal relationships.
This can lead to disappointments and complications in love and marriage,
particularly in your early adult life. It's also possible that your roving eye
can lead to scandal. You're wilful and often perceive your primary partnership
as demanding too much time and effort, an obstacle to your freedom of
self-expression. You seek spontaneity and intellectual stimulation from your
primary relationship. Unless other influences contradict this aspect of your
birth chart, commitment is not a major part of your vocabulary, and can be
something that you tend to avoid, preferring to be "footloose and fancy
free". This isn't to say that you don't have many offers. Quite the
contrary. Your bright and magnetic personality attracts potential life partners
like moths to a flame, but you prefer to keep your options open rather than be
pinned down. Depending on other aspects in your chart you may be satisfied with
a gypsy-like approach to relationships. You may also like intrigue and secrecy
in your relationships, perhaps even taking part in a secret organisation.
However, if other influences are calling for commitment and permanency in a
primary partnership, then you need to choose a partner who is able to give you
plenty of freedom. You're more suited to an unconventional relationship. You also
need to learn to compromise, restrain some of your wilder urges, and enjoy your
partner's unique contribution to your life. It's possible that the restless
side of your nature is more prominent in relationships which have formed
through friendship or through fleeting attraction rather than through true
love. With the right person, you're able to develop your talents and strengths
in a positive and supportive relationship.
MOTIVATION

Dimidium
facti qui coepit habet: sapere aude.
To have
begun is half the job: be bold and be sensible.
Horace, Epistles 65- 68BC.
Mars is
the planet that tells us about our assertion and drive. It tells us what
motivates us and what desires drive us most powerfully. Are we ambitious for
professional power, or do we desire a meaningful relationship? Do we pursue our
desires aggressively? Or do we sit back, lacking the confidence to achieve our
ambitions? These are the types of questions answered by the qualities of the
planet Mars in our chart.
With Mars
placed in the eleventh house of your birth chart groups, organisations and
clubs provide an outlet for the passionate side of your nature. On a positive
note this means that your leadership qualities come to the fore inspiring group
projects. You have the power to rally group members, charging them with purpose
and vision. Others admire your prowess. However, it's also likely to come at a
cost. You have difficulty curbing your passion and can alienate other people
through your lack of restraint. In other words you push too far, not knowing
when to stop. You don't recognise the signs of mutiny. If any thing you have
difficulty curbing your impatience with the group process, perhaps even losing
your temper with individual members. While you achieve your own goals, you lose
a lot of friends along the way. This hardly seems right as you believe that
you're only trying to help other people, but perhaps you have difficulty seeing
your own faults. It's also fair to say that you have very few true friends,
which is difficult to understand when you desire to have many. You lose your
friends through quarrels, which seem to erupt from nowhere and it doesn't seem
possible to heal the rift. However, the few true friends can usually be counted
on to fight on your behalf, and you, too, are willing to stand up and fight for
them.
The planet
Mars in the sign of Capricorn indicates that you're motivated by ambition.
"A job worth doing is a job worth doing well" could be a good motto
for your approach to both your personal and professional life. You have a
serious side to your nature which seems to hold you back when you're young, but
stands you in good stead as you grow older. You're cautious, slow to take
risks, preferring the tried and true path trodden by others before you. It's
not that you want to rely on other people. Quite the contrary. You're
self-reliant and independent. It's simply that you're a serious person, who
prefers to take things slowly and make sure that your responsibilities are
carried out properly. You're a quiet achiever, reliable and trustworthy. You
may not be as good as others at sounding your own trumpet, but you quietly
achieve all that you set out to achieve, even if you do take a little longer
than others. For this reason you're easily noted for promotion and leadership
roles later in life as those in authority come to value your skills. It's also
possible that you prefer working independently of other people, in which case
you'll benefit through your business or professional associations. This is
fortunate because you're eager to get ahead in life. The planet Mars is
considered to be in a favourable position in the sign of Capricorn and
therefore it's likely that you achieve your ambitions, although perhaps later
in life.
You're
positive, self-confident and enterprising. This is because the planets Mars and
Uranus are combining positively in your chart. You're enthusiastic and highly
self-motivated, if somewhat impulsive, enjoying adventure and new horizons. You
do need to be wary of accidents caused through your own rash actions,
particularly as you're courageous and likely to be attracted to risky sports
and activities. Your dangerous driving on the road is also likely to cause a
few hair-raising moments, both for you and other drivers. You're full of good
ideas, and once you've determined on a course of action, then you've plenty of
motivation to see it through to successful completion. You're independent and
prefer to be given plenty of room to carry through your own ideas in your own
way. Fortunately this combination usually indicates that you succeed in your
wishes, as well as your projects. It's even possible that you'll rise to
prominence during your lifetime because your "do or die" attitude to
achieving your goals.
A
favourable combination of the planets Mars and Pluto indicates that you're
resourceful and have a pool of enormous energy available when needed. Your
will-power is awesome once you've decided on your objective, and few of your
friends or colleagues would stand in your way, recognising the importance you
place on achieving your ambitions. You have the ability to work with
persistence and determination, brooking no opposition on your path. You work
with intensity towards your ambitions, which are plentiful, and achieve a great
sense of satisfaction when you have reached your goal. Those who know you well
also recognise a volcanic temper when they see one. Whether you're the type to
lose your cool often or rarely, you certainly make an impact when you do! On
other hand you're a great person to have around in a crisis because not much
daunts your indomitable spirit. You're capable of swift and effective actions,
and commitment to seeing something through to the end.
The
planets Mars and Jupiter are combining in your chart indicating that your hasty
judgement can sometimes land you in hot water. You've plenty of motivation to
achieve your goals, but lack proper judgement and discernment so that you
miscalculate the amount of time and energy needed. You're careless and
impulsive, and need to be careful of accidents which are a result of you
rushing around and trying to achieve too much. The motto "you're your own
worst enemy" could be one for you to reflect upon. Depending on other
aspects in your chart you're also excessive in your generosity. You need to
develop self discipline as your impulsiveness may be an impediment to reaching
your goals. On a more positive note you're a lively and resourceful person, who
delights in good health and keeping busy. Any course of action is entered into
with confidence and determination to succeed, which you're likely to do despite
the obstacles. You certainly know how to get yourself and other people
motivated, and can make a good leader or manager. You may be particularly keen
to travel, enjoying the stimulation of visiting other venues. You could direct
your energy to achievement in sports, politics or travel. Once you have learnt
to manage your resources you can achieve many of your goals.
CAREER AND
AMBITIONS

The road
up and the road down are one and the same
Heraclitus,
Die Fragmente der Vorsokratiker c540-480BC.
The planet
Saturn represents responsibility, boundaries and structure; structure that
provides a positive framework within which we can build, or structure that
limits our development and forces us to reassess our liabilities and assets.
This planet is also linked with our ambitions, and how we approach the
practical side of life. This planet often represents the professional side of
our lives.
The planet
Saturn placed in the twelfth house of your birth chart suggests that you're
likely to work behind the scenes of an organisation, or in solitude rather than
taking the limelight. You're somewhat reserved, preferring periods of solitude
during which you can contemplate your own life, and life in general. Seclusion
offers moments for reflection that are to be treasured. For this reason you
seek a home or workplace that gives you time away from the rest of society.
Unobserved by the world, you can work happily and peacefully on your own. It's
possible that an early childhood event, such as the death of or separation from
a parent, has prompted this need for isolation. Therefore you need to be
careful that you're not hiding from the world through an inability to face the
demands of daily life. However, it's more likely that you simply enjoy your own
company. In some cases you could be falsely accused of a wrong-doing, even
resulting in a period in jail, but this is unlikely.
The planet
Saturn in the sign of Aquarius signifies that you're a sociable and affable
person, who has the ability to work well in groups and organisations. You seem
to make friends effortlessly and to benefit from your contacts with other
people, particularly in your chosen profession. You're thoughtful and able to
communicate with people from all walks of life. In fact you're a faithful
friend and co-worker with a gift for creating mutually-beneficial contacts.
Your work is often original and innovative, drawing the attention of other
people. Sometimes you work in fields that are a little off the beaten track,
but you also have the ability to be quite profound in any situation which
requires original ideas. The fields of science and metaphysics may feature
strongly in your life. Astrologically speaking the planet Saturn is considered
to be favourably placed in the sign of Aquarius which means that you're likely
to benefit through your contacts with other people, enabling you to achieve
your ambitions in life. It's also likely that you form a fortunate marriage
union.
The
planets Saturn and Neptune are combining in your chart suggesting that you've
difficulty achieving your career ambitions. It's likely that you're a highly
creative individual, but that you either lack the confidence to follow your
true path, or the ability to make your dreams a reality. This doesn't
necessarily mean that you aren't successful in your career, but rather that
something is missing. It could be that you're dissatisfied with your career
choice, because you're not following your true vocation. It's also possible
that you enjoy your work, but aren't being paid well, which leads to
frustration and disappointment. No matter how much other people urge you to
stand up for your rights, you believe that you're not in a position to do so.
The problem may be that you've difficulty stepping back and appropriately
assessing all of your options. You lack the confidence to pave your own
professional path, afraid to leave the security and comfort of your current
job, or you're too busy chasing rainbows to manage your career. At some stage
in your life you're forced to learn to believe in yourself, to find the right
mix of creativity and practicality. Once you've made steps along this process
you gain the confidence to continue. Like a child learning to walk for the
first time, you're soon off and running.
The
Midheaven is one of the important angles in a birth chart and is also known by
astrologers as the MC or Medium Coeli. This angle tells us of our public life,
our profession and social status. In other words how we are viewed by the
public, how we want to be viewed by the public and what type of profession we
are likely to choose. It's also important to note the house position of the
ruling planet of your Midheaven for further information about your career as
this can greatly influence the interpretation.
With a
Midheaven in the sign of Sagittarius and ruled by the planet Jupiter, you've an
enthusiastic approach to your chosen profession, and are likely to achieve
success. It's also likely that your career reflects your personal philosophy on
life, driving you to achieve certain goals. Although you'll probably succeed in
any career, you could be attracted to teaching, public relations, academia,
travel consultancy, philosophy, or religion. You like to be noticed publicly,
and you may travel or have foreign connections in your career. Examples of
famous people with the same Midheaven include USA actor and film director
Robert Redford, Communist philsopher Karl Marx, USA actress Whoopi Goldberg,
and Australian actor Guy Pearce.
CREATIVITY
AND ORIGINALITY

The artist
must be in his work as God is in
creation,
invisible and all-powerful; one
must sense
him everywhere but never see him.
Gustav
Flaubert, Correspondence 1857-64.
The planet
Uranus represents originality and unconventionality. This can be both the
unusual and brilliant genius or the wilful rebel without a cause. This planet
tells us the areas in which we break with convention, become innovative and
experiment with new and exciting ways. In some circles of astrology Uranus
represents the creative genius which comes directly via our soul or higher
self.
The planet
Uranus is in the seventh house of your birth chart suggesting that you've a
need for unconventional relationships. Depending on other aspects in your birth
chart, these relationships have a positive or negative effect on your life. On
a positive note you attract an unusual primary partner, someone who is original
or involved in an unusual occupation, perhaps even a genius in their field.
Your marriage gives you just the right amount of freedom to pursue your
independent activities. You also benefit from lively and unusual business
partnerships, or a business partnership in an unusual project. On the other
hand, you may experience misunderstandings and troubles through your marriage
and business relationships, which can lead to separation and disputes, possibly
even law suits. Perhaps your partner is cruel, or possibly you rushed into
these partnerships with little thought of the consequences. If you've
experienced troubles in your marriage and business partnerships, which have
resulted in loss, then you would do well to avoid conventional partnerships in
the future. You would also be wise to avoid legal conflicts, because you're
unlikely to benefit.
The planet
Uranus was in the sign of Virgo from 1962 - 1968. It's important to note that
Uranus spends a long time in each sign, and therefore the interpretation
applies to a generation rather than the individual. For a more individual
interpretation you need to look at the house position of Uranus in your chart.
Uranus in the sign of Virgo indicates that you belong to a generation which
focuses on the practical details of humanity. Medical research, the balance
between work and leisure, the links between mind and body come into focus. Your
creativity soars when you're tackling these issues.
The
planets Uranus and Pluto both move slowly through the zodiac, and therefore any
connection between the two planets affects birth charts for a short period of
time. You were born in such a time meaning that you feel the urge to bring
about revolutionary change in your life and those of your friends, colleagues
and society. You've high ideals and the creative energy to implement changes.
You may be curious about metaphysical matters, science and global affairs.
Neptune is
the planet of creativity and spirituality. It represents both the bliss of
spiritual attainment and the heights of creativity. This isn't personal
spirituality and creativity which comes at the expense of others, but gifts
which can benefit humanity. This planet also represents the confusion that can
accompany the road to discovering when we are being selfish, as opposed to when
we are generously thinking of how our gifts can benefit others.
The planet
Neptune placed in the eighth house of your chart means that you become
knowledgeable through your own experiences, rather than relying on other
people's advice. You benefit most when following your own intuition. This
intuition tells you that you're likely to benefit more from pursuing the
spiritual, rather than the material side of life, and you would be wise to
follow these feelings. You're likely to suffer financial loss through personal
and business partnerships, as a result of external circumstances, fraudulent
activities or carelessness on behalf of your partner. Depending on other
influences in your chart, you're also unlikely to gain through inheritance. On
the other hand you're gifted in psychic and metaphysical matters, and may be
keen to pursue this side of life. You may experience strange dreams, or
dream-like states, which urge you to explore the deeper meaning of life.
The planet
Neptune was in the sign of Scorpio from 1955 - 1970. It's important to note
that Neptune takes about 164 years to make a complete cycle, spending about
thirteen years in each sign, and therefore the interpretation applies to a
generation rather than the individual. For a more individual interpretation you
need to look at the house position of Neptune in your chart. Neptune in the
sign of Scorpio indicates that you belong to a generation which has the ability
to passionately pursue spiritual values. You face a battle between your
material desires and the desire for a spiritual way of life. You know the value
of regeneration rather than stagnation, and may play a role in changing the
world.
CHALLENGES
IN LIFE

The spirit
of self-help is the root of all genuine growth in the individual.
Samuel
Smiles, Self-Help 1859.
The planet
Pluto challenges us to transform our lives by clearing out our old habits to
make way for the new, more rewarding ways of living. The process isn't
necessarily an easy one, as most of us cling tenaciously to the comfort offered
by habitual patterns, and are rather scared of new paths. Pluto shows us in
which areas of our lives we need to grow, and to a certain extent whether we're
likely to find the process of growing painful or joyful.
The planet
Pluto is in the seventh house of your birth chart indicating that marriage and
business partnerships are a challenging force in your life. You need to
approach these relationships with caution and integrity, otherwise you're prone
to major upheavals. It's possible that your parents' relationship was somewhat
traumatic, affecting you more deeply than you had previously believed. This may
affect your ability to commit to a marriage. If you're not careful you may
attract an abusive marriage partner, or someone who betrays you in marriage or
business. On a more positive note, you
prefer a challenge in marriage rather than the comfort of a predictable
partner. If you and your partner are aware of potential problems, and are able
to keep the communication lines open, then you learn a great deal through your
most intimate relationships. This experience of deep transformation through relationships
can be most rewarding.
The planet
Pluto was in the sign of Virgo from 1957 - 1972. It's important to note that
Pluto takes about 248 years to make a complete cycle, spending 12 - 32 years in
each sign, and therefore the interpretation applies to a generation rather than
the individual. For a more individual interpretation you need to look at the
house position of Pluto in your chart. Pluto in the sign of Virgo suggests that
you belong to a generation concerned with global health and environment. Your
generation possesses the ability to transform the way the world sees health.
Medical research, world-wide diseases, medical discoveries, and the links
between mind and body are focuses for this generation.
PURPOSE AND
JOY

He who
binds to himself a joy
Doth the
winged life destroy
But he who
kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in
Eternity's sunrise
William
Blake, MS Note-book.
A sense of
purpose can help us overcome the most onerous difficulties in our lives, by
taking the focus away from our failings and problems, and shining the light on
our strengths and talents. By concentrating on our purpose we can distract
ourselves from our troubles, and maintain the forward momentum of our lives. A
sense of purpose can also lead to feelings of happiness and joy. Ancient
astrologers believed that a person could either identify with their human body
and human life, or could focus on a spiritual life. A rewarding spiritual life
can help ease human pain and suffering, and inject joy into every day life. A
sense of purpose can assist the process of transferring our identification from
our human selves to the spiritual sides of our nature, and one of the greatest
gifts of astrology is to help us determine our purpose.
The North
Node and South Node form an axis in astrology, which is said to represent one's
destiny or spiritual quest in life. This axis is also linked with our purpose.
The North Node points to a key lesson in our lives. It represents new
experiences towards which we must aim during this life. We have already learnt
the skills of its opposite point, the South Node, in the past. Now we must grow
and stretch ourselves through the North Node.
Your North
Node is in the fifth house and your South Node is in the eleventh house of your
birth chart indicating a quest to create and own your destiny. You need to give
up your personal dreams and develop self-discipline to build a creative life.
Your nodal
axis has the North Node in Cancer and the South Node in the sign of Capricorn
denoting that you're destined to overcome inner pride and to learn to tolerate
your own failures. You've a tendency to make life harder than it need be. This
is based on the past when you had to work hard for people's respect. You need
to learn humility and to express your emotions honestly so that you can nurture
others with your wealth of wisdom.
Your
destiny is linked with the discovery of new and exciting thoughts and concepts
because of the combination of the North Node and the planet Uranus. You need to
make sure that you do not seek excitement at all costs, but direct your
energies wisely. In this way you'll achieve your purpose, which is likely to be
linked with making a contribution to humanity.
You're on
a spiritual quest, and your destiny is linked with expressing your artistic and
creative talents. This is indicated by the association of the North Node and
the planet Neptune. Your challenge is to discover your highest potential, which
may be expressed through spiritual or artistic groups.
You're on
a quest to use your insights and personal experience to help others. This is
because of the association of the North Node and the planet Pluto in your birth
chart. You may encounter traumas during your lifetime, which will ultimately
help to develop your resourceful nature.
The South
Node and the planet Mercury are combining in a way that suggests your
communication skills are highly-developed, but you need to avoid your tendency
for talk rather than action. You're being challenged to stop scattering your
energy in all directions and put your communication skills to good use so that
you can achieve your purpose.
The South
Node and the planet Mars are combining to suggest that you may experience
difficulty being assertive and finding the drive to succeed, or alternatively
you may have a tendency to misdirect your energies. Your current life lesson is
to express your energy positively and assertively. Your talent for independent
action needs to be developed so that you can achieve your purpose.
You've a
tendency to seek excitement and scatter your energies, because of the
combination of the South Node and the planet Uranus. You've many unique
talents, but need to develop discipline in order to make the most of them.
You've a
tendency to become embroiled in the dramas and crises of life, whether they be
real ones or in your imagination. This is because of the association of the
South Node and the planet Pluto in your birth chart. It's true that you're
familiar with the darker side of life: matters such as jealousy, malice,
under-handed deals, abusive behaviour, criminal elements and depravation. Your
challenge is to rise above the negativity, whether it's your own or other
people's, and to use your insights and resources for the good of others. For
instance you could prove skilled in the area of crisis counselling.
The
Ascendant, or Rising Sign as it's sometimes called, is a key to discovering our
purpose. Ancient astrologers believed that the Ascendant depicted our primary
motivation as individuals. Some believed that it was one of the links to
discovering what makes a person happy. When we're accomplishing our primary
motivation then we're happy. The more modern Esoteric astrologers believe that
this sensitive chart point reveals our soul's purpose. When we're carrying out
our soul's purpose then we're joyful. They believe that acceptance of our
purpose, or fate, can help us achieve success and satisfaction, and that
meditation on the qualities of the Ascendant can help us focus on our life's
purpose.
The sign
of Pisces is considered to be "feminine" by Ancient astrologers
suggesting that you're not a risk-taker, but more likely to wait until you feel
comfortable before pursuing your purpose. You're also likely to depend on other
people to take the initiative. Pisces is also a Mutable sign denoting
versatility, flexibility, adaptability, sensitivity, restlessness, indecision
and anxiety.
You're sensitive,
impressionable, romantic, sentimental, imaginative, affectionate, kind, helpful
and misunderstood. Your sensitivity to other people and your environment is
both physical and emotional, possibly to the extent that you possess psychic or
mediumistic gifts. This sensitivity can be a blessing and a curse. On the one
hand you're able to sympathise with other people, lending an understanding ear
to their troubles and soothing their problems. Your purpose may be linked with
physical or emotional healing work. On the other hand you're sometimes unable
to detach yourself from other people's problems and reactions. This can lead to
misunderstandings, and feelings of persecution and isolation. As a result you
need to be wary of turning to negative methods of escaping from your own and
other people's troubles. In particular you should avoid alcohol and drugs. You
would do better to commune with nature, listen to inspirational music or find
another positive, uplifting pastime in which to immerse yourself in order to
forget your troubles. You've a vivid imagination, and could enjoy developing
the artistic side of your nature through the arts, or writing. There are times
when you feel that you're not the master or mistress of your own fate, but
rather that some force is compelling you to act positively or negatively. Your
challenge is to use your willpower to direct your energies into a positive
outlet.
In
Esoteric astrology the sign of Pisces is linked with compassion, spiritual
responsibility, and the ability to be a saviour of others. Your purpose is
connected to gaining a deep understanding of the spiritual nature of humanity
and sharing this understanding with other people.
